On July 19, 2005 the FCC in a notice of proposed rulemaking (NPRM) announced it's intention to eliminate any Morse Code requirement for all classes of amateur radio licenses. The complete ARRL story can be read at http://www.arrl.org/news/stories/2005/07/20/100/?nc=1.
